About
Debra Sweeting

Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator

Debra Sweeting is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator with specialized Conflict Resolution training from Cornell University. She brings a unique combination of legal, business, and communications expertise to her mediation practice, helping parties resolve disputes with fairness, professionalism, and efficiency.

Debra’s career path has been shaped by extensive experience in the legal and corporate sectors. She served as Public Relations/Marketing Director and Chief Assistant to renowned attorney Willie E. Gary at the law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Watson & Gary, P.L.L.C., where she worked closely with Mr. Gary on case preparation, correspondence, and mediation settlement conferences. Her role also included expert video production services for high-stakes mediations—an experience that sharpened her skills in negotiation, communication, and helping clients find common ground.

In addition to her legal background, Debra holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSBM) with a dual concentration in Marketing from the University of Phoenix and Florida A&M University. She launched her corporate career with Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals and has since held leadership roles in several professional organizations, equipping her with a broad perspective on problem-solving, strategy, and relationship management.

Beyond her professional achievements, Debra is deeply committed to advocacy and community service. She is a passionate champion for disability rights, inspired by her journey as a mother to a child diagnosed with Autism, Down syndrome, and ADHD. She believes strongly in ensuring that children with disabilities have access to quality education, healthcare, and resources that allow them to thrive.

Guided by her favorite prayer by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.— “Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself.”—Debra lives her values of service, compassion, and justice. She actively supports community groups, youth programs, and organizations that reflect her dedication to creating opportunities for others.

Through Sweeting Mediation Services, Debra integrates her legal knowledge, business acumen, and personal commitment to fairness to provide a calm, trusted space where parties can resolve disputes and move forward with confidence.

TESTIMONIALS

Let me say this to a young lady I noticed the day that I met her. Lorenzo and I had the privilege to interview her, and I knew she was destined for greatness, destined for the big time in public relations and the law. I am just grateful God thought to send her our way. I know the best is yet to come.
